Lecture: "Educating from the Roots" by Mercè Traveset i Vilaginés (Barcelona, Spain)
Join us for a presentation of the Systemic Pedagogy, an education based in the Orders of Love of Bert Hellinger, creator of the Family Constellations Therapy, by Mercè Traveset i Vilaginés. The Systemic Pedagogy is an education based in relationships. It is a methodology that allows parents and teachers to look at education as an ecosystem linked to familial, social, cultural, and historical systems and shows how all these influences have repercussions in any learning process. It feels like magic when one is able to educate free hearts while projecting rays of hope and light beyond darkness; when one is able to look at the solution and connect the people with the strengths of their love, their destiny and their potential. The lecture will include an introduction to Bert Hellinger's Family Constellations work, case studies and a practice. Questions and consultations from the audience are welcome, time permitting.
Mercè Traveset i Vilaginés is a teacher, psychologist, family constellator, therapist with more than 25 years of experience, and teacher of teachers. She coordinates the formation of the Systemic Pedagogy in Barcelona. Mercè is the author of the book "Pedagogía Sistémica, Fundamentos y Práctica" (Systemic Pedagogy: Foundations and Practice) Ed. Grao, 2007. Visit www.mercetraveset.com for more information. |

Film: Apocalypse Africa – Made in America with Discussion by filmmaker Del Walters
Apocalypse Africa – Made in America is the most controversial documentary ever produced about Africa. It is about blood diamonds, and uranium, and oil. It explores the role racism in US foreign policy played in the destabilization of an entire continent. It contains never before heard audio tapes, never before seen films, and interviews from the people who watched it all unfold. There were the top secret studies ordered by US Presidents before the official policy of the United States is changed. Most remain classified. Two are considered the most controversial ever written. National Security Study Memorandum 200 declared global overpopulation a threat to the national security of the US, and tied US foreign aid to population control which included sterilization. NSSM 201, ordered one day later, increased arms sales to Africa. Filmmaker Del Walters is also author of the book “The Race”, a novel about a man poised to become the first Black president struggling to stay alive. He will have copies of the book and the movie for sale at ECAC. |

Capoeira
Angola
Capoeira Angola is an African Brazilian
martial art form characterized by such dynamic movements
as cartwheels, handstands, spinning kicks and spontaneous
acrobatics. At its highest level of practice, capoeira is
considered an improvisational conversation between two bodies.
The operative sensibility is very similar to a jazz performance.
Capoeira Angola has its roots in Bantu tradition and was
used by the enslaved Africans of Brazil as a form of revolution.
In keeping with African war strategies, Capoeiristas masked
the art's effectiveness from plantation overseers. The International
Capoeira Angola Foundation teaches all aspects of this complex
art – the movements, the music, the history, the traditions,
the philosophy, bringing it all together on the first Sunday
of each month with a roda or circle of Capoeira play. Visit www.capoeira-angola.org for

Codependents
Anonymous
Co-dependency is an emotional and behavioral
condition that affects an individual’s ability to have
a healthy, mutually satisfying relationship. It is also known
as “relationship addiction” because people with
codependency often form or maintain relationships that are
one-sided, emotionally destructive and/or abusive. Co-Dependents
Anonymous (CODA) is a 12-Step fellowship of men and women
whose common purpose is to develop healthy relationships.
The only requirement for membership is a desire for healthy
and loving relationships. We gather together to support and
share with each other in a journey of self-discovery -- learning
to love the self. We rely upon the Twelve Steps and Twelve
Traditions for knowledge and wisdom. These are the principles
of our program and guides to developing honest and fulfilling
relationships with ourselves and others. By actively working
the program of Co-Dependents Anonymous, we can each realize
a new joy, acceptance and serenity in our lives. Visit www.codependents.org for
