ABOUT

Emerald City Art Collective was originally born out of Patrick Howe’s oil painting classes that he held at his art gallery in Seattle. In 2015, He began exhibiting his students’ artwork semi-regularly in the gallery.

As the students’ abilities developed, Howe and artist Kathy Kimball built relationships with local and regional venues—including coffee shops, cafés, and galleries—to exhibit the group’s work. They named this early version of the group Carrot Revolution Art Company, inspired by a famous remark by Paul Cézanne that he intended to “astonish Paris with a carrot.”

Up to that point, all of the artists in the group had come through Howe’s oil painting program. However, as many members developed into professional artists, it was decided to open the doors to other outstanding professional and semi-professional artists outside of Howe's program. At that time, the organization changed its name to Emerald City Art Collective.

In 2026, Howe and Kimball stepped down from coordinating the group and now serve as advisors to the current leadership team, which includes artists Liz Larsen, Amy Agee, Alex LaVilla, and Anthony Gipe.

The mission of the Emerald City Art Collective is to bring together fine artists of the greater Seattle area into an artistic community, share their work with the public through curated exhibitions, and connect collectors and enthusiasts with paintings that move them — ensuring that the art finds lasting homes in the hands of those who love it.
